Architectural Spotlight of Ellicottville

Hillside Splendor
Story and Photos
By John Thomas

In a town full of ski homes, it’s hard to find one that truly stands out.  Think of this home as a chalet on steroids.  Massive stone work surrounds the twin garage doors and ground level entrance.  Climb up the wide staircase and you’ll find yourself on a large cement deck.  The exposed timbers that support the roof give the facade its chalet flair.  This home is big and brawny, and solidly built and meant for a crowd.   Inside is equally impressive, the high vaulted ceiling is covered in walnut board.  The dining area is just in front of a huge bank of windows and is grand enough for the royal family.  Beautiful wood floor runs throughout the main level.  Just off the living area is a media room with plenty of space for a game table and a mini jumbotron TV.

On the second floor is the master suite and a bedroom.  Up one more flight of stairs (watch you head) are a couple of dorm rooms that can sleep a passel of kids.  The ground floor has the most gorgeous ski gear room I ever seen.  The walls, benches, hooks, and cubbies are all made with rich toned walnut.  It has its own entrance and is also just off the enormous four car garage.    The kids can entertain themselves in the large family room, and just down the hall are a couple of bunk rooms.

At the end of the street is direct access to the runs at HoliMont; about as close to the slopes as you can get.  Since Ellicottville is now considered a four season resort, it’s a grand get-a-way any time of the year.  For more information about this property contact Melanie Pritchard Licensed Real Estate Salesperson at ERA Team VP Real Estate 716-480-8409.
