Events this Weekend Back By Popular Demand
The Downtown Jamestown Development Corporation is very excited to announce the second annual Taste of Jamestown will be returning to downtown on Friday, August 1st from 11am-9pm; it is running simultaneously with the kick off to Lucille Ball’s Birthday Celebration (August 1-3, downtown Jamestown.)
“It was a huge success in 2007 and we don’t expect anything less for 2008,” said Tiffani Reynolds, DJDC Special Projects Manager.
There will be restaurants, cafes, bars and catering companies being represented at this year’s Taste of Jamestown.
Live entertainment will showcase at Potter’s Terrace along with tasty treats from local eateries. Kokomo Time Band will perform from 12-3pm and an evening performance by Willow Creek will be held from 6-9pm on Potters Terrace. Willow Creek is a six man band performing in Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania. They have had the honor of opening for country music stars Josh Turner and Miranda Lambert and volunteer their time for local benefits and other area performances. Willow Creek will headline the Taste of Jamestown 2008 from 6-9pm on Potters Terrace for the public to enjoy.
Participants in Taste of Jamestown will have booths set up along Third Street between Main and Pine Streets and those located in the immediate downtown area have the opportunity to set-up outside their establishments. “This will allow the attendees to walk around downtown and see everything we have here,” said Reynolds. “This was a suggestion from our local restaurants and we hope that they receive more traffic by doing this during the event.”
Patrons must purchase tickets to sample food items from eateries set-up on Third Street and restaurants choosing to set-up in front of their own establishment. DJDC will be operating two ticket booths along Third Street between Pine Street and Main Street. Tickets are 50 cents each and all items will range from 50 cents to $4.00.
“This event is solely for the businesses to come down and take advantage of the unique opportunity for the community to “taste” what they have to offer. 2007 participants were extremely satisfied with the results and we hope to continue that success,” added Reynolds
Taste of Jamestown will be an annual fundraiser for the Downtown Jamestown Development Corporation. All proceeds raised from this event will be used to continue to provide quality events in Downtown Jamestown.
New this year is the 106.9 Kiss FM Kiss the Cook contest. DJDC has partnered with Jamestown’s own 106.9 Kiss FM to provide a unique contest for those participating in the Taste of Jamestown. Each participant will provide one dish from their stand and it will be judged. The participant whose dish is selected as the event favorite will receive a commemorative Taste of Jamestown plaque and a 13 week advertising schedule from 106.9 Kiss FM. This schedule is in addition to any current advertising with the radio station.
