EDG Changes Hands; Dr Joseph Vilardo DDS Takes Over

Ellicottville has had a dental office for a long time. It is now called the Ellicottville Dental Group and has been since the firm moved to it’s new home at 6133 Rte. 219 Suite 1003, when Dr. Illig moved his office from above the M&T Bank in the village. This past July, Dr. Joseph Vilardo DDS purchased the Dental Group and has settled in with his new colleagues and the rest of the staff in Ellicottville Dental Group. Dr. Vilardo has owned the Ken-Ton Dental Group in Kenmore, NY and has provided high quality dental care to the Kenmore and Tonawanda community for the past 29 years. Dr. Illig will still be working along side Dr. Vilardo at the Ellicottville Dental Group as he has served the Ellicottville dental needs for the past 30 years. The office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8am-5pm and new patients are always welcome.
The Villager caught up with Dr. Joseph Vilardo DDS and asked him some questions about himself and his new dental office in Ellicottville.
Dr. Vilardo DDS went to St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, Canisius College, and Case Western Reserve University of Dentistry after he grew up in Buffalo, NY. Dr. Vilardo told the Villager that he decided to become a dentist when he was in his Freshman Year volunteering at the ECMC Dental Clinic.
The Villager: How did you come to take over the dental office in Ellicottville?
Dr. Vilardo: A business consultant mentioned the Ellicottville office was for sale and considering we have a home just outside of Ellicottville, we thought it would be a good fit.
V: How did you hear about Ellicottville?
Dr. V: I frequented Ellicottville many times over the years skiing and dining.
V: What do you love the most about Ellicottville?
Dr. V: The relaxing atmosphere and beautiful setting.
V: How are you being received here?
Dr. V: Very Well. Everyone has been very friendly and welcoming.
The Villager also asked about the staff at the Ellicottville Dental Group, Dr. Vilardo said that all the previous staff remains including, the office manger Karen, dental assistants Janice and Taylor, dental hygienists Colleen and Mariah and that Dr. Illig is working two days a week at the practice. Dr. Vilardo has owned his home in the area for over ten years and also expressed that he is excited to carry on the proud tradition of Ellicottville Dental Group and looks forward to becoming an integral part of the community.
